When we moved back to North Carolina from Oregon, I sorely missed hearing songbirds. I would often walk outside and the only sounds I heard were the raucous cawing of crows, the cackles of chickens from down the road, and the mooing of distant cows. While it was wonderful to be out in the country away from noisy traffic, my music-loving soul missed the singing of birds. One spring morning, I was reading my daily devotions in the living room when I heard the most beautifully cascading, bubbly song. My heart raced as I listened. Quietly, I slowly cracked open the door. Sitting on the wrought iron railing just outside my front door was a round little Carolina Wren singing his heart out. He sang to me for quite a while and my heart was filled with joy. I was again reminded that God does provide our every need and heart's desire, no matter how trivial. Truly, truly, I say to you, if you ask the Father for anything in My name, He will give it to you. — John 16:23
